In Private Enterprises Pavilion in Shanghai World Expo, a forum on economic transformation and modern city management was held. Going along with the forum was an awarding ceremony named World Expo Stars. Cixi city was listed as a World Expo Star: Most Energetic Economy in Yangtze Delta. Cixi was the only economy in Ningbo to be listed as a star.
As the sixth largest urban circle in the world, Yangtze Delta has become the most powerful engine in Chinese economic development and private economy development. After the opening of the World Expo, Regional Plan for Yangtze Delta which has been on the way for a long time was finally approved by State Council. For regions around Shanghai, the World Expo has become a rare opportunity for them to enhance their social and economic progress.
To help these regions and relevant institutions have an access to and take advantage of World Expo, Chinese Private Economy Seminar and Organizing Committee of Chinese Business Summit and Organizing Committee of Enterprises Pavilion jointly held the activity to choose Economic Stars.
Three awards were finally given to ten counties and cities in Yangtze Delta, including Most Energetic County (City), Most Potential Development Zone in Investment and Most Attractive Tourism Destination. Cixi was finally given the first award.
