In an evaluation of the achievement last year, Cixi was listed as one of the top cities which have made great progress in the construction of new rural area. It is said that Cixi has again won the title as the leading city. Besides, Cixi has also been listed as advanced unit in housing program.
Housing reform is an important step in the process of urbanization and it is now regarded as an important measure which can promote the comprehensive development of rural area and speed up the urbanization and improve the livelihood of people in rural area. Cixi government has made it one of most important tasks and has implemented 40 functional zone programs in which 4073 households have been moved and 7089 households will be moved. At the same time, area of 330,000 square meters has been used to build residence.
Adhering to the principle of "cultivating, building, advancing and rolling development", Cixi has started the cultivation of central villages and rural land and comprehensive improvement project of land.
