Cixi has now made a plan for developing marine economy and decision for developing Binghai District in Cixi. A meeting on how to carry out the plan was held yesterday, which marked the beginning of the development drive. 

Experts say 21st century is when people will challenge seas. It’s time for human kind to seek more space, more resources and wealth form seas. Developing marine economy is also a good way to transform economic development mode. It will be also a good way to develop international market and increase openness degree. Zhejiang provincial government and Ningbo Municipal government have decided to develop Zhejiang and Ningbo into models of marine economy. 

Cixi enjoys a very good geological position and varieties of marine resources, thus making Cixi a very important part of model area of marine economy. Developing marine economy will help Cixi to play a better role in competing international counterparts. This is a urgent demand from the strategy of implementing national strategy of developing marine economy. It is also an important measure for a new coastal economic development plan of Ningbo. At the same time, it is a natural choice due to the need of transformation of economic development mode.  

Cixi is now determined to speed up developing some key areas according to its strategic plan. One area to be developed is the coastal area, which can sever as an important platform on which Hangzhou Bay Industrial Belt will be developed. With a coastal line of 13 kilometers, beautiful environment and profound cultural deposit, this area has every resource which are needed for developing into a strategic platform. Besides, there is one AAAA tourism spot in this area. In future, the geological advantage of the area will become more and more outstanding. Cixi intends to develop this area into a new part of the city where people can enjoy beautiful environment and fine facilities.  

Cixi government urges various departments to speed up their work so as to promote the economic and comprehensive capability of the government and build Cixi into an area where breakthrough in development of Ningbo will be realized.
