Cixi, located on the coast of the East China Sea and the south bank of the Ningbo Hangzhou Bay, is 60 kilometers away from Ningbo in the east, 148 kilometers away from Shanghai in the north and 138 kilometers away from Hangzhou in the west. It is a major industrial and commercial city on the southern wing of the Greater Shanghai Economic Circle in the Yangtze River Delta region and one of the coastal cities of open economy designated by the State Council.
