Town Profile: Zhouxiang Town is located in the western corner of Cixi and is bounded on the north by Hangzhou Bay, on the west by Yuyao City and Shangyu County. It has a total area of 68.09 square kilometers and a resident population of 165,000. It is a class-V small city in the planning industrial belt system around Hangzhou Bay within the Yangtze River Delta. And it is the western center of the planned distribution “one center, four areas” for the urban-rural integration in Cixi. In 2012, the regional GDP of the town reached RMB 7.362 billion and the industrial output value was RMB 27.55 billion. And the financial revenue was RMB 1.248 billion. Successively Zhouxiang Town was included in the list of the United Nation Development Program Pilot Small Town in Sustainable Development, National Pilot Town in Development & Reform, and National Pilot Small Town in Comprehensive Reform, Provincial Cultivation Pilot Small Town and Ningbo Experimental Satellite Town. Zhouxiang Town is also well known as “Capital of Household Appliances, Country of Huanghua Pear”. In recent years, given the opportunity of being a pilot town in building a small city and satellite town, Zhouxiang Town is making its full effort to construct a modern industrial cluster zone covering an area of 1.86 square kilometers, introducing a number of emerging industrial enterprises, so as to build a manufacturing and trade service zone of high-end household appliances, new-type equipments & machineries and auxiliary products. The town is also accelerating its urban construction, planning to build a new town within 2 square kilometers in the constructed area, focusing on introducing projects like urban complex, large and medium-sized business circles so as to create a “city living room” for leisure and entertainment; and improving service environment, standardizing administrative approval services so as to build “5 minutes service circle” providing instant and convenient services.
