Recently, Cixi was included in the 2020 list of constructing the provincial-level demo counties of fishery aquiculture. In the following two years, it will improve the core competiveness of aquiculture and forge a provincial model of green aquiculture.

This activity of developing a demo aquiculture base is a focal point to bolster the aquiculture’s green development in Zhejiang Province and the industrial competitiveness in rural vitalization. 14 listed counties (cities or districts) have been designated to develop demo bases of aquiculture and the time span for this endeavor is set to be 2 years.

In recent years, Cixi has built multilevel demonstrative aqua-farms, formed a monitoring network covering villages, towns and cities and constructed a total number of 10 ecological pilots for disposing aquiculture tailwater. With 8 national-level and 5 provincial-level demonstrative aquafarms, it has promoted the cultivation of 290-hectare new products like the Macrobrachium rosenbergii. The quality and safety of aquatic products has always been placed at the priority and this year the qualified rate of 103-batch inspected products reached 100%.

According to the Implementation Plan for Constructing the Provincial Demonstrative County of Healthy Fishery Aquiculture, Cixi will endeavor to upgrade the production conditions, green aquiculture technologies, service systems and industry management. By doing so, it will comprehensively ensure the legal and regulated aquiculture, prosper the construction of demonstrative county, standardize the healthy aquiculture in aquafarms and cooperatives as well as build the long-term mechanism for pioneering the fishery modernization.

Looking ahead, Cixi, focusing on the aquiculture production normalization, service socialization and management systematism, will strictly follow the standard and impel the construction. By setting up core demonstrative bases, conducting demonstrative activities, improving production conditions and management service as well as developing name brands of aquatic products, its aquiculture will see a great increase in industrialization, systematization and standardization. Besides, Cixi’s demonstrative scale of organic fishery aquiculture will also be further enlarged, which can facilitate the industrial green and high-quality development and push the healthy aquiculture to reach a new height.
