Weighing about 1 kg, built-in battery, wireless transmission, reagents at normal temperature transport and preservation, 40 minutes to complete the COVID-19 test… A hand-held automatic closed nucleic acid detection system “endorsed” by experts from Cixi Institute of Industrial Application was recently displayed at the World Digital Economy Conference 2021& the 11th Smart City and Intelligent Economy Expo.

As is learnt, this system developed by the Ningbo Yinrui Biomedical Instrument Co., Ltd. on its own has been successfully selected as an “intelligent monitoring technology and equipment for fast port clearance during the Winter Olympic Games” for the national major special project of “Science and Technology Winter Olympics”. And on the basis of the “Science and Technology Winter Olympics” project, the company will urgently undertake the project for the research of “technologies for emergency COVID-19 prevention and control at the port”.

Yinrui is a biotechnology innovation enterprise, located in the Cixi Smart Valley Science and Technology Plaza. It is also a selected team of Ningbo “3315 Series Plan”. In late January last year, the company was entrusted by the General Administration of Customs to undertake the project of “R&D of onsite rapid integrated quarantine equipment and supporting reagents based on nucleic acid amplification technology”.

As is learnt, the company’s base in Cixi is able to produce 240 sets of detection systems and more than 60,000 detection chips each month. The first batch of products have been put into use in domestic port quarantine sites.
