“Would you please share with us what books do you usually like to read?” Lately, a “Colorful Classroom” Summer Vacation Practice Activity, organized by the Cixi Municipal Rescuing and Protection Center for Minors and the Cixiang Social Work Service Center, was opened with kids sitting around in a circle to share books that they like to read and exchange ideas under the guidance of teachers. Themed classroom activities, including “Growing up with Good Books”, “Colorful Legal Classroom”, and “Safe and Green Internet Access”and so on, enriches the life of minors during the summer vacation.

Following its establishment in 2019, the Cixi Municipal Rescuing and Protection Center for Minors has begun its substantive operation since early this year to provide effective policy guarantee and caring services for more than 500 orphans, children in distress, left-behind children and other minors in the city, so as to further protect the rights and interests of minors and escort happy growing-up of children.

The Cixi Municipal Rescuing and Protection Center for Minors is located at No. 190 Youth Palace North Road and boasts functional rooms, including a sunshine caringroom, a temporary resettlement room, a psychological counseling and legal aid room, acase consultation room, a volunteer station, an area for games and so on. In addition, an outdoor basketball court and a plantation park are also available. While improving the hardware, social forces from all walks of life actively participated. At present, a total of 13 caring units have participated in relevant work of the Cixi Municipal Rescuing and Protection Center for Minors. Activities, such as the Micro Wish Claim themed “Taking Care of Innocent Mind of Children and Realizing Dreams for Love”, the Public Welfare Step Donation themed “Flying Innocent Mind of Children and Happy Growing-up”, the “Micro Caring Bookshelves Conveying the Fragrance of Books”, and the “Colorful Classroom Summer Vacation Practice Activity”, etc. have been held successively.

In recent years, Cixi has been actively doing a good job in child welfare and security, and has established the Cixi Municipal Rescuing and Protection Center for Minors, promoted the construction of a Workstation for the Protection of Minors and Children’s Home, equipped with more than 370 supervisors and village (neighborhood) directors for the benefit of children, and established a three-level children welfare service network in the city, towns (sub-districts) and villages (communities).

For the next step, based on the principle of “maximizing the interests of children”, the Cixi Municipal Rescuing and Protection Center for Minors will provide professional services such as accurate assistance, psychological counseling, rights and interests protection and social integration according to different types of children in distress, so as to ensure the survival, development and safety of children in distress and create a favorable environment for the healthy growth of minors.
