Cultural relics carry civilization and inherit culture, and the importance of cultural relics safety is self-evident. Recently, the Cixi Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau and other departments jointly carried out cultural relics safety inspection on cultural relics protection units at or above the provincial level, so as to prevent and eliminate major cultural relics safety risks.

The inspection team focused on the implementation of the "three responsibilities", namely the government's main responsibility, the units' supervision responsibility, and the units' direct responsibility, as well as the implementation of the "three defenses" through manpower, materials, and techniques, and "four risks", namely the theft risk, fire hazard risk, legal person's illegal behavior risk, and natural disaster risk for the investigation with emphasis, and the potential safety hazards found in the process of investigation were required to be rectified within a time limit.

It is learnt that the safety inspection of cultural relics is a key part of the city's "Year of Cultural Relics Safety Rectification" campaign, which will form an assessment report on the safety rectification of cultural relics through the preparation of a list of problem rectification tasks, and the implementation of problem rectification, tracking and supervision. In the future, Cixi will also promote the improvement for the safety of cultural relics on this basis.

According to statistics, up till now, 1,165 immovable cultural relics have been registered in Cixi, and 150 units under cultural protection (cultural protection sites) have been announced. At the same time, Cixi boasts 1 national historical and cultural town, 1 national historical and cultural village, 2 provincial historical and cultural villages, and 13 public and private museums and memorial halls.
