Recently, the key municipal livelihood project—Cixi Sports and Fitness Center—passed its final acceptance inspection and is about to be put into operation. The opening of this modern, comprehensive sports center, which integrates sports competitions and public fitness, marks a new step forward in the city’s sports development and public facility construction. It not only fills the gap in large-scale indoor sports venues in the city but will also serve as an important engine for promoting public fitness, stimulating sports consumption, and enhancing urban vitality. It carries citizens’ aspirations for a healthier and better life and embodies the city’s hopes for a more dynamic and fashionable future.
High-Standard Construction Creates a New Urban Landmark. The Sports and Fitness Center project is located in the cultural and business district, east of the City Exhibition Hall, to the south bank of the Chaotang River, to the west of the Xincheng River, and to the north of Keji Road. The site covers an area of approximately 19,586 square meters, with a total floor area of 40,527.06 square meters and a total investment of about 375.9 million yuan. It provides 161 car parking spaces, 13 passenger and freight vehicle parking spaces, and 1,087 non-motorized vehicle parking spaces. The project includes a sports and fitness center with one underground floor and three above-ground floors, with a partial fourth floor. Its design concept aligns with modern architectural aesthetics, featuring a streamlined roof and a dynamic facade, making it another iconic building in the city.
The construction plan of the center follows the "One Stadium, Two Gymnasiums" public sports facility standards for sports modernization in the Zhejiang Province. The four above-ground floors primarily house public fitness areas, supporting commercial spaces, fitness venues, a ping-pong hall, a comprehensive indoor ball games area, fitness classrooms, and auxiliary rooms. The competition-grade constant temperature pool and supporting facilities are located on the third floor. A sunken outdoor tennis court is set up next to the Mingyue Lake, while outdoor water sports such as rowing can be organized in conjunction with the lake.
Multifunctional Integration Serves Public Fitness. The core function of the Cixi Sports and Fitness Center is to serve public fitness. The facility includes a standardized swimming pool, basketball courts, badminton courts, tennis courts, and a physical training area open to the public. Additionally, dedicated spaces such as a trampoline park, a super sports park, and a kids’ growth center have been set up for children. The interior design strictly adheres to standard requirements such as the "Accessibility Design Guidelines" and "General Specifications for Building Environments" issued by relevant departments including the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, and the All-China Women’s Federation, actively creating child-friendly and age-friendly demonstrative sports venues.
