On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the conviction that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, yesterday morning, Lin Jian, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Ningbo Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Cixi Municipal Committee, Sun Bai'nan, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Cixi Municipal People's Congress, and Chen Jiefeng, Chairman of the CPPCC Cixi Municipal Committee, and other leaders from the city came to the central urban area located to the south bank of the Chaotang River to expand the supporting green land of the North Drainage Project. They participated in a voluntary tree planting activity with municipal government officials and comrades, practicing the conviction that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets with practical actions, creating a favorable atmosphere of greening and increasing greenery, and loving and protecting greenery.

On site, city leaders and government officials participated in tree planting activity together. Through division of labor and cooperation, using shovels to shovel soil, helping seedlings fill pits, stepping on soil to compact seedlings, and carrying buckets to water them, they collectively planted over a hundred seedlings such as red maple, cherry blossom, plum blossom, red leaf plum, and beauty tea, etc.. During the tree planting gap, Lin Jian also gained a detailed understanding of the city's afforestation and greening work. He pointed out that solidly promoting afforestation and greening work is related to the high-quality development of Cixi, and it is also a specific measure for us to vigorously carry out the "3-year" special action of hard-core strength breakthrough year, quality charm improvement year, and safe and happy Cixi breakthrough year. We must firmly follow the path of giving priority to ecological and green development, adhere to afforestation and greening to promote better ecological environment, more beautiful home appearance, and better urban quality, and continuously improve people's happiness and development "gold content" with ecological "green content".

In recent years, our city has closely focused on the strategic goal of "Forest Cixi, Beautiful Cixi", and taken the three-level forest chief management system covering the city, towns, and villages as the starting point to comprehensively promote the new journey of forestry modernization construction. Last year, the forest coverage rate in our city increased to 9.56%; 228 mu of degraded forests were restored; 5,700 mu of precise forest quality improvement projects were completed, and the pine wilt disease epidemic area was successfully abolished. It is the only area now freed from pine wilt disease epidemic in the Ningbo City in 2025, and the forest quality has been further improved. The Cixi Forest Farm successfully applied for the pilot program of Zhejiang Forestry Carbon Sequestration Pilot Base in 2023, and completed the creation of 320 mu of carbon sequestration pilot base in 2024. In 2025, our city will focus on the construction of high-quality forests in Zhejiang, taking the construction of beautiful forest landscapes as the starting point, continuously improving forest quality, and allowing the people to enjoy more and better achievements in ecological civilization construction.
