Every morning and evening, the parks and greenways along Xinzhoujia Road in the Kandun Subdistrict are bustling with activities. Nearby villagers would jog, practice Tai Chi, and engage in fitness activities in their preferred ways. Hu Yuechun, a resident of the Shenwu Village, told reporters: "This fitness trail is very close to my house, making it convenient to take a walk or exercise after meals." Nowadays, such "greenways at the doorstep" can be seen everywhere in the Kandun Subdistrict, creating a high-quality fitness environment for local residents.

Since the beginning of this year, the Kandun Subdistrict has continuously used "action-driven efforts" to elevate "livelihood warmth." By adapting to local conditions and maximizing the use of urban and rural spaces such as parks, green areas, and community halls, the subdistrict has focused on constructing a series of projects including "doorstep" sports fields, parking lots, greenways, stages, study rooms, and intergenerational stations and so on. These efforts aim to create a batch of "small yet beautiful" livelihood projects close to the people, extending more high-quality public resources to residents' doorsteps.

Through "doorstep sports fields" and "doorstep greenways", the Kandun Subdistrict has effectively formed a "15-minute fitness circle". In addition to the subdistrict's cultural and sports center, the public fitness squares in the Kandong Village and the Sanqun Village, though small, are fully equipped with a variety of fitness facilities. Activities like square dancing and aerobics are in full swing, attracting over 200 villagers daily for exercises. The Zhitang Village Sports Park, located beside the Dachang Road, spans 20,000 square meters and features professional venues for playing badminton, table tennis, basketball, and so on, complemented by a 1,000-meter rubberized fitness trail, offering endless possibilities for sports enthusiasts. Currently, the subdistrict is also integrating resources to upgrade two existing "pocket parks" into "doorstep sports fields" and "doorstep greenways", with the improvement project along the Xinzhoujia Road set to commence soon.

The Kandun Subdistrict also leverages culture as a medium to actively create "doorstep stages" and "doorstep study rooms". Since last year, events such as the Rural Opera Month, Flower Festival Garden Tour, and "Cixi Super Drama" have been held, encouraging residents to participate in various cultural competitions and performances through local dance teams, choirs, and drama clubs, making the public the stars of the stage. This year, the subdistrict will also host cultural activities such as immersive opera costume science experiences, concerts, open-air movies, and a youth singing competition, allowing villagers to enjoy a cultural feast "right at their doorstep". Meanwhile, in the Oak Bay Community, the urban study offers over a thousand books covering history, literature, and health, available for residents to browse anytime, connecting reading scenes across the area and building a reading ecosystem that covers all ages, integrates diversity, and stays close to daily life. Regularly held events like parent-child reading sessions, poetry gatherings, and book club meetings allow residents to encounter the charm of books right in their neighborhood.
