Admiring millennium-old bayberry red, setting sail for common prosperity. Yesterday afternoon, the launching ceremony for Zhejiang Local Specialty 2025 · "June Red Bayberry" & Cixi Bayberry Season Series Events was held at the Shanglin Lake Celadon Cultural Heritage Park in our city. Chen Liangwei, Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Agriculture Department; Feng Guansheng, Vice President of the Zhejiang Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences Xu Qiang, Vice Mayor of the Ningbo City, and municipal leaders, including Zhang Cheng, Zhou Huamin, and Bao Baiyi attended the launching ceremony.
Cixi is China's famous hometown of bayberries and the origin of Biqi species bayberries, with over 2,000 years of cultivation history. Currently, Cixi has over 90,000 mu of bayberry plantations with annual output of 60,000 tons and annual output value exceeding 1 billion yuan. It has been included in the national protected designation of origin list, obtained geographical indication registration and certification trademark, and won over 30 honors including China Famous Trademark and National Top 10 Premium Bayberries, and so on.
Zhang Cheng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Cixi Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Cixi City, on behalf of the municipal leadership, extended warm welcome to guests. He said that Cixi has always regarded the bayberry industry as crucial for rural revitalization and common prosperity. Through the three-year "Two Improvements" Action for quality enhancement and brand elevation, Cixi has forged a distinctive development path of "small bayberries leveraging big industries". This event not only showcases Cixi's agricultural achievements but also vividly practices rural revitalization strategy. In the future, Cixi will safeguard quality with craftsmanship to make bayberries the "fruit of prosperity"; stimulate vitality through innovation to make them the "golden key" for industrial integration; unite efforts to make them the "new engine" for common prosperity, contributing Cixi's strength to characteristic agricultural development.
The ceremony released Cixi bayberry season events, promoted Cixi bayberries globally, and appointed online influencers as "Xishang Meixiang" bayberry ambassadors. Major production regions including Yuyao, Lanxi, Huangyan, Xianju and Qingtian presented their bayberries. Experts introduced bayberry wine standards, and the Zhejiang Agricultural Technology Promotion Center released 9 premium bayberry tourism routes; customs officials explained export supporting measures. And a specialized bayberry sales matchmaking event was held.
Participants visited cultural tourism markets, an ecological bayberry sightseeing park, and the Haitong Food Group Co., Ltd. during the event.
