Kandun Takes Multiple Measures to Eliminate Hidden Summer Safety Hazards

As summer arrives, temperatures continue to rise, and safety issues cannot be ignored. To create a "clean, beautiful, and orderly" urban environment, improve grassroots governance, and safeguard summer safety, the Kandun Subdistrict Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Team, in collaboration with the Emergency Fire Management Station, has launched a summer safety inspection campaign. Through a series of coordinated efforts, they aim to strengthen routine and long-term law enforcement inspections, eliminate hidden summer safety hazards, and collectively ensure summer safety.

Recently, law enforcement officers visited major roads in the area, such as the Renhe Road and the North Qing Shaoniangong Road, to conduct safety inspections of several off-campus training institutions along the roads. The focus was on checking evacuation routes, emergency exits, emergency lighting systems, firefighting equipment, and the implementation of fire safety management systems. During the inspection, officers found issues such as blocked fire exits and inadequate firefighting equipment at one institution, and ordered immediate rectification on the spot.

At the same time, law enforcement officers inspected shops for the unsafe practice of "fly-wire charging" of electric bikes outside their premises. Some merchants, lacking safety awareness, were directly using extension cords to charge e-bikes outdoors. Officers patiently explained the hazards of this practice, promoted relevant laws and regulations, and guided merchants to park and charge their vehicles in designated areas. A total of 12 cases of "fly-wire charging" were addressed during this inspection.

Unobstructed fire lanes are critical to public safety. Law enforcement officers conducted frequent patrols of residential complexes and farm food markets to check for vehicles illegally parked and blocking fire lanes. For violations, they criticized and educated the owners, explaining the dangers of occupying or obstructing fire lanes, and issued warnings or penalties according to the law, requiring immediate removal of the vehicles.

During hot weather, safe gas usage is a top priority. Law enforcement officers conducted comprehensive inspections of gas usage at street-side restaurants, focusing on whether gas alarms were installed as required, whether gas cylinders were heated or placed upside down, whether equipment met safety standards, and whether connecting pipes were aged or corroded. A "one-household-one-record" checklist was created. Additionally, officers provided gas safety education and guidance to operators to enhance their safety awareness and emergency response capabilities.

"Urging merchants to remain vigilant and respect summer safety precautions is essential," said Gong Weijie, a member of the Kandun Subdistrict Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Team. He noted that the inspections adhere to the principle of "combining guidance with enforcement, prioritizing education over punishment". For repeated violations or refusal to rectify, administrative penalties will be imposed according to the law. Follow-up inspections will ensure all measures are properly implemented, creating a safe summer living and consumption environment for the public.
