This summer, the nights in Cixi were lit up with a passion for sports. From Longshan to Guanhaiwei and Kandun, "Village BA" games were in full swing at various village and community sports fields. Without exception, these venues were set up in "at-the-doorstep sports fields" like town cultural and sports centers and community parks. As night fell, the elderly would arrive early, fanning themselves and carrying small stools, and young people raised their phones to record videos and share, while children imitated and learned shooting moves... Online livestreams were equally popular, with cumulative views exceeding one million.
This basketball fever, originating from the "ZheBA," has not only allowed residents to truly realize a new sports lifestyle of "seeing the view when opening the window and exercising when going downstairs" but has also propelled a deep transformation of "at-the-doorstep sports fields" from facility improvement to cultural shaping.
As the events continued to heat up, various towns and subdistricts skillfully leveraged the momentum to extend the national fitness craze to every corner. The Longshan Town organized 15 teams for 38 fierce matches; the Guanhaiwei Town saw 14 teams engage in 52 exciting games, and the Kandun Subdistrict had 15 teams contribute 33 thrilling contests. These events not only enriched the leisure life of the masses but also became an important bond for enhancing neighborhood feelings.
Beyond the basketball craze, the national fitness movement has also seen diversified development. Since July, the "At-the-Doorstep Sports Carnival" has been staged successively, with 6 major projects including football, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis taking place in turns, continuously meeting the sports needs of citizens of different ages and promoting national fitness to a higher level.
Behind the popularity of the events lies the smart activation of the city's "golden corners and silver edges" (underutilized spaces). Various towns and subdistricts actively surveyed spaces such as under-bridge areas, building rooftops, park green spaces, and idle factories, building various fitness facilities according to local conditions. The Zhangqi Town made full use of the space under the Shenyang-Haikou Expressway Bridge, constructing facilities like a gate ball court and children's play area, etc., cumulatively activating about 7,000 square meters of under-bridge space.
Social forces have also joined this "sports renewal". Corporate naming sponsorships, associations providing equipment, "grid members + volunteers" collaborating on operation and maintenance... a sustainable management mechanism is taking shape, ensuring every sports space can serve citizens long-term, safely, and warmly.
As of now, the city has newly built 54 fitness trails, 54 "National Ball (Table Tennis) into the Community" facilities, 12 basketball courts, 2 caged football fields, 4 community multi-purpose sports fields, 3 village-level national fitness squares, and 1 sports park, adding over 200,000 square meters of sports facility area.
From hardware upgrades to hosting events, from professional competition to public sharing, "at-the-doorstep sports fields" are naturally integrating sports into citizens' daily lives. In the future, our city will continue to promote the smart upgrading of sports facilities, planning to achieve full coverage of the "Zheli Fitness" system by 2027, helping the "15-minute fitness circle" transition from vision to reality, and allowing sports spaces to continuously convey the city's warmth and vitality.
